GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Our care instructions can be found on the labels applied inside Yves Salomon clothing as well as on our website.

We advise you to avoid contact with oil- or alcohol-based products such as perfumes, cosmetics and hand sanitizers, which can damage the fabric and leave permanent stains.

Contact with heavily textured surfaces may damage your product (fabric damage, pulled threads, scratched/damaged surfaces and edges).

It is recommended to avoid this type of surface in order to preserve the perfect condition of the item.

Store your item in a cool, dry place and avoid prolonged exposure to sources of direct light, heat or humidity.

Excessive packing and folding can permanently damage embroidery, crafts, beads, studs, fur and synthetic applications, leather and other delicate parts.

It is advisable to store them carefully.

We also recommend taking the item out and letting it air out from time to time.

Professional cleaning is recommended on most of our products.

Please always refer to the care labels applied to the inside of your Yves Salomon items for cleaning instructions.

You can also have your item cleaned in our boutique located at 36 rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris or take it to a fur or leather specialist.

For storage, it is recommended to hang the item without compressing it.

In the case of knitted items (e.g. cashmere, mohair, etc.), we advise you to avoid wearing them for several days in a row.

This will allow the knitted fibers time to rest, promoting the aesthetic integrity of the item.

FURS

We recommend storing your fur in a cotton cover, away from light and heat sources such as the sun, radiators or direct light.

We also recommend avoiding spraying hairspray or perfume directly onto your fur.

However, if your fur does get wet, it is best to let it air dry and not use a hair dryer or other heating device.

It is also recommended to never iron your fur as this may damage it.

Avoid dry cleaning at all costs.

It is advisable to entrust your fur to a fur or leather specialist.

During the summer, it is advisable to entrust your fur to summer guard

Humidity, temperature and light are specifically regulated to protect it.

If you would also like to have your room cleaned at this time, we recommend that you contact one of our stores.

If a few stitches in a seam break, they must be sewn immediately by a specialist.

Attaching brooches or other jewelry to a fur garment is not recommended.

LEATHERS

Leather is a natural material, which requires a lot of delicacy.

Over time, it evolves and acquires a patina:

This natural wear is manifested by variations in color and texture.

It should be protected from humidity, prolonged exposure to light and excessive heat.

Here are some tips to help you care for your leather pieces:

  • We advise you to protect your items from humidity (rain) and any source of heat (radiator, sun)
  • In case of contact with water, do not wipe the leather, dab it with a natural colored cloth to absorb the liquid
  • Depending on the type of leather, you can maintain it regularly with a suitable milk

Be careful with color transfers:

Your clothes can stain the leather, so avoid contact with coats and rough textiles that stain, such as dark jeans, for example.

Their colored pigments can transfer to the leather and irreversibly damage your piece, and vice versa.

WOOL & CASHMERE

Our creations are made from quality natural fibers that require special attention.

It is important to always refer to the instructions on the composition and care label.

Washing:

Hand washing is recommended for the care of your knitwear.

  • It is done in cold water (the mesh likes water, but not heat),
  • Use a special wool detergent, preferably liquid, powder detergents can leave marks,
  • Avoid fabric softeners, as this will damage the fibers of your sweater.
  • Please note, hand washing must be done without "soaking", otherwise your piece may felt,
  • Rinse thoroughly with clean water, without twisting your item to avoid damaging it,
  • Lightly massage your sweater by wrapping it in a towel to remove excess water before drying it.

Machine washing with a wool cycle is possible if the care label indicates this.

In this case :

  • Wash inside out to avoid snagging,
  • Use a laundry bag if possible,
  • Washing is also done cold,
  • And the spin should not exceed 400 revolutions per minute,
  • We recommend always using a detergent suitable for wool, preferably liquid and in small quantities.
  • The use of fabric softener should be avoided.

Drying:

The mesh should preferably be dried flat, away from sunlight in order to maintain its original shape and color.

We therefore recommend that you avoid hangers, which relax the fibers and deform your mesh.

The dryer is not recommended.

Store your item in a dry place, away from light.

Some knits prefer dry cleaning, refer to the instructions on the composition and care label.

Pilling:

Keep in mind that quality wool by definition is a material that naturally releases a surplus, which is why it rejects an excess of material which forms pills in certain areas of friction.

We recommend using a cashmere comb for fine knits, such as cashmere and merino wool.

Lay your piece flat and paint it gently, applying light pressure.

For thicker mesh, there are specialized electric shavers.

SILK

Silk is a noble and delicate material that lasts a very long time when well cared for.

Washing:

We recommend hand washing rather than machine washing.

  • Washing is done in cold water, not lukewarm water.
  • Do not soak your garment for more than a few minutes.
  • Be careful not to rub or crease your garment when washing, silk is fragile, this could leave marks
  • We recommend using a delicate liquid detergent suitable for silk.

Drying:

We recommend drying your item directly on a hanger in the open air, but away from sunlight to avoid any discoloration.

You can also dry your item in a towel beforehand to remove excess water, but do not crease your blouse or dress to avoid damaging the fibers.

In some cases we also recommend dry cleaning.

Ironing:

If you wish to iron your item, we recommend doing so on the reverse side of the garment, and using a slightly damp cloth.

The iron should be on the "silk" setting if there is one, and at the lowest setting, to avoid damaging the fibers.

You can also steam your garment if you have the necessary equipment.
